Wellingham Educonsult (“Wellingham”, “we”, “us”) helps students find and apply to affordable universities abroad. To do that well, we handle personal information — and we handle it the same way we handle costs: transparently. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account details — your email address when you sign up.
  • Profile information — the details you share to get matched: name, nationality, budget and currency, target study level, field of interest, qualifications, and preferences.
  • Application materials — documents you upload when you engage a counselor: transcripts, statements of purpose, references, and identity documents needed for applications.
  • Messages — conversations with your counselor in the app, questions you ask the AI agent, and messages you send us on WhatsApp.
  • Usage data — basic technical information (such as pages visited and device type) that helps us keep the service working and improve it.

Why we use it

  • To rank universities and scholarships against your budget and profile.
  • To run your application case when you engage a counselor.
  • To answer your questions and keep you updated on deadlines.
  • To improve the product and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal information. We are not paid by universities to push you toward them, and we do not share your data with institutions until you ask us to apply on your behalf.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored with our hosting and database providers (currently Vercel and Supabase), protected by access controls. WhatsApp conversations are also processed by Meta under WhatsApp’s own terms. Questions you ask the AI agent are processed by an AI model provider to generate answers — avoid pasting sensitive documents into the agent; share those with your counselor instead.

When we share

  • With institutions — universities, scholarship bodies, and visa authorities, only as needed to submit applications you have asked for.
  • With service providers — hosting, database, messaging, and AI providers that process data on our behalf.
  • When the law requires it — if we are legally compelled to disclose information.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop processing it. We honour these rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act and, where it applies, the GDPR. The fastest way to exercise them is to message us on WhatsApp; we will confirm what we did.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active or your application case is open. If you ask us to delete your data, we will — except for records we are required to keep (for example, billing records).

Cookies

We use essential cookies only — the ones that keep you signed in. We do not run advertising trackers.

Children

Wellingham is intended for users aged 16 and above. If you are younger, a parent or guardian should manage your journey with us.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy meaningfully, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you directly. Questions? Message us on WhatsApp (+234 903 889 7867). See also our terms & conditions and disclaimer.
